Anatoly Lyadov (1885-1914) was a Russian composer, conductor and pianist. He mainly wrote short pieces, including works for piano and orchestra. His best known composition is 'The Enchanted Lake'. The 'Eight Russian Folk Songs' was written in1906 for a chamber orchestra including strings, woodwind, horns, trumpets and percussion.
This arrangement, by Alard de Boer, includes parts for all voices in a full clarinet choir. The piece was premiered by the Groningen clarinet choir Clarinets Unlimited (conductor: Karin Vrieling) at the European Clarinet Festival at Kortrijk in Belgium on 7 November 2010.   

Instrumentation: e-flat, b-flat 1-2-3, alto clarinet (or clarinet 4), bass clarinet (until low E flat), contrabass clarinet and/or contra alto clarinet (both until low e-flat)
